Lion in the Limpopo ProvinceLimpopo is the farthest north province of South Africa, bordering with Botswana, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe, all of which are separated from Limpopo by the Limpopo River. This part of South Africa is known for its abundance of wildlife as well as the scenery, history, and culture.

Visitors to Limpopo can take in the Kruger National Park famous for its huge herds of elephant and buffalo as well as the abundant bird population. Privately owned lodges and game reserves provide a variety of accommodations for those interested in both daytime and nighttime views of the wild animals of the region.

The mountains of Waterberg also offer a number of game reserves. Soutpansberg is one of the most beautiful regions in South Africa. Besides having 340 varieties of trees that are natural to the area, there is also a very large population of leopards.

Polokwane is the capital of Limpopo where you can find a wide variety of places to stay, from luxurious suite hotels like the Getaway Gateway with its two swimming pools and tennis courts. In Polokwane there are also full-service or self catering game lodges like the Di-Ella Game Lodge that provide early morning or evening game drives, bush walks, bird watching, and even horseback safaris.
