Marlinspike Guest Lodge

Detailed description
Join us at Marlinspike Guest Lodge for a relaxing stay in one of the most picturesque parts of Cape Town – Hout Bay. As you enter the property, you will be taken in by the panoramic view of Chapman’s Peak drive, the bay, the yacht marina, the fishing harbour and the town of Hout Bay framed by majestic mountains forming part of the Cape Nature reserve.
This is the view that you will enjoy from each of our fully equipped rooms - including twins, doubles and a family suite. Each of the rooms has an en suite toilet, shower, bath and bidet as well as its own safe, hairdryer and Television (7 channels including 2 satellite). We offer tea and coffee facilities and of course the ‘extra touches’ such as bath robes, shampoos and soaps. For those on business each room has access to Wi-Fi and if you need to use the internet there is a dedicated computer available to all guests (broadband connection).
If you are here for fun, the beach is about 1km walk past the harbour and the curio market (we provide the beach towels). Wake up to the visiting guinea fowl and (weather permitting) enjoy a sumptuous breakfast of cereal, fruit salad, orange juice, tea or real coffee, as well as eggs (of your choice), bacon, mushrooms and tomato.
After a full day, come home for a drink in our cozy pub or sit on your balcony an spot the whales (in season of course) before either heading our for a meal at one of Hout Bay’s many excellent restaurants or enjoying a home cooked seafood platter (served on request) or meal of the day.
Features
Things to do and see
Hout Bay is a special town – in itself a microcosm of South Africa with both rich and poor living in harmony in the valley. Blessed with magnificent beaches, mountain walks and bird life, you may choose to simply take a hike (you can walk directly on to the mountain from Marlinspike) or visit the famous World of Birds or the historic cannons and old fort.
For the more adventurous, you may choose a fishing trip or kayaking to fill your holiday hours, Just over the ‘nek’ in Constantia there is a wine route offering some of the finest wines in the Cape and only 20 minutes drive will bring you to Table Mountain, the waterfront or the convention centre.
Take the road over the famed Chapman’s Peak Drive to Cape Point (45 minutes) and then travel round the peninsula to visit the penguins at Boulders beach.
