Tanzania is located on the middle eastern coast of Africa and is
bordered on the north, west and south by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi,
the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
This area of the world is believed to have been inhabited for the
longest period in history, as prehuman and human evidence has been
discovered to date back millions of years.
The landscape varies widely from the sea coasts and lake shores to the
tops of mountains like Kilimanjaro. Tanzania contains some of the
world’s most famous parks including the Serengeti Plains, the Ngorongoro
Conservation Area and the Gombe Park, which is home to Dr. Jane
Goodall’s chimpanzees. Visitors will also find populated regions quite
varied with everything from large cities to rural villages.
Three main airports and two railway companies provide transportation to
all parts of Tanzania in addition to boats along the coastal shores. Car
rental agencies are also available in the area. Accommodations range
from modern 5-star hotels to permanent campsites. The region is
increasing in popularity as a unique vacation destination, providing
various tours and safaris, which allow guests from all over the world to
come face to face with native wildlife and habitat.
