Most people are familiar with Cape Town, South Africa. However, it’s unfortunate that not nearly as many people know of Stellenbosch. This beautiful South African city only 30 miles from Cape Town offers scenic vineyards, Dutch-style homes, Stellenbosch University, and the Twin Peaks. These might sound like interesting places to see and visit, but it’s nothing compared to the nightlife Stellenbosch offers. Many people visiting Cape Town will even make the extra effort to get to Stellenbosch for its appealing nightlife.

If you simply want to enjoy a romantic dinner, there is no better option in Stellenbosch than the Boulders Beach Restaurant. You will not find loud music or a party atmosphere at this well-run establishment. What you will find are some of the most amazing views you will ever witness, incredible food and service, an inviting décor, and a relaxed atmosphere. What makes this restaurant such a tempting option is that you can sit on the deck during any weather or season. They have covers that will come down and protect the deck during inclement weather and a heater that can be turned on during the winter months. As far as the food goes, their motto is international cuisine meets local produce. The result is excellence. If you plan on visiting on a weekend, make sure you book a reservation ahead of time. It will get crowded.

If you want something completely different, such as a party atmosphere, go to Mavericks on Plein Street. This is a spacious nightclub with good DJs and service. You will be sure to have a good time. If you’re looking for large crowds where you can meet all kinds of new and interesting people, be sure to visit Tollies on Bird Street. This is a bar that features live music almost on a nightly basis. If you choose to stay inside, you will find it to be a little tight in regards to the size of the crowd. Luckily, there is a terrace that offers more room, as well as a side room that usually isn’t as crowded as the rest of the interior. This side room has a pool table and a fireplace. Due to the large crowds, don’t expect the service to be fast at Tollies.

A nice blend of a restaurant and bar is Terrace, which is located on Alexander Street. If you choose to dine here, you will be pleased with the menu. And you don’t have to worry about noise from the bar. The bar and restaurant were strategically separated. The bar often has live performances. Just don’t expect to get much conversation in due to high decibel levels. Terrace is one of the longest standing establishments in Stellnbosch, which gives it some extra flair.
