Fraserburg, Northern Cape – Twenty five cold water swimmers successfully completed a record-setting swim on July 17, 2010, in an icy 4C dam in Fraserburg, near Sutherland – the coldest town in SA — to complete the first ever Speedo Ice Swim Africa.

The festival includes 2 days of Music Splash for which there is an entrance fee of R40.00 per Adult R10.00 per Child and Free to Children under 3years. Doors open at 7pm. Started as a fundraising project the the PTA of Laerskool Outeniqua Primary School in George, the Vodashop George Cheese Festival now offers a variety of different events.

 

In addition to funds raised for the local primary school, a percentage of the profits of each of the events is donated to a charity of the sponsor’s choice.

 

In 2008, a total of R56 800 was handed out at a special event to 11 different charities in the region.

The Gravity Adventure Festival started 10 years ago as a kayaking event. It was timed to coincide with high water conditions on the Palmiet River near Kleinmond, about an hour from Cape Town, and was attended by a small bunch of local kayakers who had done their time on the rapids of the Palmiet River.

 

Additional events were added each year until the Festival reached its current format, with pretty much something for everyone who is interested in outdoor activities....
