The term Big 5 refers to the five great wild animals in Africa namely the Elephant, Buffalo, Lion, Leopard, and the Rhino. This term was originally used by the hunters in Africa to refer to these wild animals.

 

Although this term was used during the hunting era now it is used to refer these wild animals and the experience the visitors get by seeing the destinations where they can find these wild animals.

 

Any visitor’s trip to South Africa is incomplete if they had not spotted these Big 5 during their trip. This term has become synonymous with South Africa now. Each of the animal that comes under the term Big 5 are dangerous than you think them to be.

 

The leopard is fast to act and can hunt any animal and even humans at remarkable speed. The buffalo is aggressive and it makes the hunting experience very deadly with this animal. Other reserves that are popular for the Big 5 are the Pilansberg Reserve , The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park , and the Hluhluwe Umfolozi Park.
